Help us feed people in need this Christmas 🎄

This summer, you saw us serving warm meals on the streets of London. This Christmas, we’re going even further 🎄.

For the seventh year @feedingldn, in collaboration with @youngafricacentre, is partnering with a local food shelter to serve hot Christmas meals to residents of a hostel on Christmas Eve and distribute winter care packages to rough sleepers.

As we feed London, we’re also sending love to Jamaica, supporting families affected by Hurricane Melissa with essential relief supplies 🇯🇲 .

We still have another week to raise as much money as we can. Every donation makes a difference, from warm clothing and hot meals to relief packages.

Final donation day: 23rd December

YAC Reflects - Black History Month

YAC has been on the move this month! Proving that creativity thrives in community and the best ideas come when we slow down and tune in.

💡 At @blacktechfest, @estelleuba reflected on innovation, legacy, and representation, a reminder that progress means transforming spaces with authenticity and purpose.

🎨 At the @154artfair exhibition at @somersethouse, @darlin.lov saw how storytelling through art continues to express resilience, identity, and imagination, showcasing African creativity’s global impact.

🖤 At the A wà ńbẹ: Exhibition Collaborators Roundtable hosted by @studioorry_ , Cathy Munyarari and @anaisauvray explored Yoruba traditions and the collaborative power of preserving culture as a living dialogue.

Together, these moments showed that growth comes from listening, engaging, and celebrating each other’s journeys across disciplines, generations, and communities.

Interviewing Richie Brave and others at The Sitdown UK’s Black Joy event

What does Black Joy mean to you? 💭

At @thesitdownuk’s ‘Black Joy Experience’, we heard from @richiebrave, @chocolaa.__, and @crazymikes1st.

In a world that often ties Blackness to struggle, how do we reclaim joy through our own lens?

This felt like the perfect way to kick off Culture in Motion. As a Pan-African Platform, we are all about decolonising our minds and reimagining what it means to be Black and African.

Big thanks to The Sitdown UK and everyone who shared their perspective. ✨

YAC Spotlights Afro-Latinx Cultures

From Africa to Latin America 🌍✨

We’re kicking off our ‘YAC Celebrates’ monthly series with the Afro-Latinx community! We’re honouring histories of resistance, the food that keeps memory alive, the street parades and drumlines, and the films, stories and people that have shed light on the Black Latin American experience.

Swipe to explore the threads that tie Lagos to Bahia, Accra to Cartagena, Luanda to Havana. If you’re Latin American, please rep your flag in the comments so we know you’re here! 🌍✨🇧🇷 🇨🇴 🇻🇪 🇨🇺 🇩🇴 🇵🇷 🇭🇹 🇭🇳 🇳🇮 🇬🇹 🇧🇿 🇨🇷 🇵🇦 🇪🇨 🇵🇪 🇲🇽

This is the first in an ongoing series spotlighting communities across the African diaspora.

Tell us your favourites: a dish, a song, a film, or a notable person from your culture that you want us to celebrate next.

DICE’s Big Sis Creative Design Project

✨ Sisterhood. Creativity.
Empowerment.

This summer, our Big Sis Creative Design Project brought together an incredible group of young women for a four week journey of collaboration and growth.

From research and discovery, to creative design, exploring brand awareness, and even shaping a sales and marketing strategy, the group poured their voices and visions into creating something truly special.

This is what happens when young women come together to learn, create and uplift.

Could you guess what product we created with the guidance of @will_redgrove_art?

Our YAC Committee is growing!

✨ From 19 members to over 45 strong — YAC has grown bigger than ever before! We are excited to welcome onboard so many fresh faces with bold energy.

At our latest YAC induction, we asked some of our newest members: What are you most looking forward to as you join the Young Africa Centre? 🌍💭

From connecting with other young people doing incredible things in the diaspora, to including often-overlooked communities like North Africans, Francophone and Lusophone Africans — their answers remind us why this space matters.

We are here to build community, create visibility, and shift narratives.

🎥 Watch the video to meet the new wave of visionaries shaping our future.
